The Rio Carnival is a world-famous festival held before Lent every year and considered the biggest carnival in the world. It features the spectacular Samba Parade at the Sambadrome, alongside hundreds of vibrant street parties (blocos) pulsating with music and energy.
How to attend: Street parties (blocos) are free and all over the city. Tickets for the official Sambadrome parades (especially the Special Group on Sunday and Monday) must be bought well in advance through the official LIESA website or authorized agencies. Grandstand tickets range from $50 to $300+ depending on the sector.
