Somatheeram Ayurvedic Health Resort, Chowara Beach, Trivandrum, Kerala 695501, India

About 14-Day Panchakarma Detox & Rejuvenation

The Ultimate Journey of Mind-Body Cleansing

The 14-Day Panchakarma Detox & Rejuvenation program is a comprehensive Ayurvedic immersion designed to strip away accumulated toxins (Ama), balance your constitutional energies (Doshas), and revitalize your entire systemic health. Set amidst the serene, tropical backdrop of Kerala’s coastal palm groves, this traditional medical pathway offers an authentic holistic resetting of your physique and mind.

Ayurvedic Abhyanga Treatment

Panchakarma literally translates to 'Five Actions'—a systematic sequence of deep purification procedures tailored specifically to your unique constitution (Prakriti) under the supervision of experienced Ayurvedic doctors (Vaidyas).

Phase 1: Purvakarma (Preparation Phase - Days 1 to 4)

Before deep toxins can be eliminated, they must be mobilized from deep tissues toward the digestive tract. This phase includes:

  • Snehana (Internal & External Oleation): Ingestion of medicated ghee (ghee infused with therapeutic herbs) followed by full-body warm herbal oil massages (Abhyanga).
  • Swedana (Herbal Steam Therapy): Medicated herbal steam baths designed to open the circulatory channels (Srotas) and loosen deep-seated metabolic waste.

Phase 2: Pradhanakarma (The Five Cleansing Therapies - Days 5 to 10)

Based on your health assessment, the physician administers precise therapies to expel toxins:

  • Virechana: Medicated purgation therapy targeting the liver, gallbladder, and small intestine to cleanse excess Pitta.
  • Basti: Herbal decoction and oil enemas targeting the colon to purge Vata accumulation, restoring digestive power (Agni).
  • Nasya: Administration of herbal oils through the nasal passages to clear head sinuses and calm the central nervous system.
  • Shirodhara: Continuous, rhythmic pouring of warm medicated oil over the third eye area, relieving stress, insomnia, and nervous tension.

Phase 3: Paschatkarma (Rejuvenation & Aftercare - Days 11 to 14)

The final phase focuses on rebuilding vitality (Ojas) through tailored post-detox diets (Samsarjana Krama), gentle restorative yoga, pranayama, and herbal rasayanas (rejuvenative tonics) that lock in long-lasting immunity.

History

Deep Roots in Classical Ayurvedic Tradition

The protocols used in the 14-day Panchakarma retreat are directly transcribed from classical texts dating back over 3,000 years, primarily the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita. Ancient Indian physicians understood that disease manifests when metabolic waste accumulated from poor diet, stress, and environmental factors clogs the body's energetic and physical pathways.

Meditation and Yoga

Kerala holds a uniquely prominent position in the history of Ayurveda. Due to its continuous lineage of Ashtavaidya families (eight famous traditional physician lineages), the state preserved these elaborate multi-week purification techniques even during eras when they faded elsewhere across the subcontinent. The humid monsoon climate and abundant endemic biodiversity of medicinal flora rendered Kerala the ideal geographical sanctuary for profound physiological healing.
