About Colva Beach
Colva Beach is the commercial and recreational heart of South Goa's coastline. Stretching over 2.4 kilometers, this beach features fine white sand, towering coconut palms, and a bustling atmosphere. Unlike the quieter South Goa beaches, Colva is packed with beach shacks, water sports operators, and a vibrant nightlife. It is extremely popular among domestic tourists and families looking for fun activities.
History
During the colonial era, Colva was the retreat of choice for Margao’s high society, who built beautiful holiday villas here to escape the summer heat. The famous Our Lady of Mercy Church nearby houses the miraculous statue of Menino Jesus (Baby Jesus) brought by a Jesuit missionary in the 1600s.
