According to the legend, a powerful and wealthy king once ruled a kingdom in the Western Ghats, and his palace was situated near the waterfall. His beloved daughter, a princess of unparalleled beauty, would daily bathe in the lake at the foot of the waterfall. After her bath, she would drink sweet milk from a golden jug to refresh herself. It was a daily ritual.
One day, while the princess was enjoying her bath and preparing to drink her milk, she heard the sound of approaching men. It was a prince, accompanied by his entourage, who had ventured into the forest. Startled and modest, the princess poured the entire jug of milk into the waterfall to create a milky screen, shielding herself from the gaze of the strangers until her maids could bring her clothes. The milk cascaded down the rocks, creating a white, frothy curtain.
It is said that even today, in honor of the princess's modesty and purity, the waterfall continues to flow with milk-like waters, especially during the monsoon, forever preserving the memory of her virtuous act.
